Because a guide and permit are compulsory, booking a package is the normal way to climb. What differs between them is the route (Senaru rim, Sembalun rim, summit, lake), the length (one to four days), the group (shared or private) and the standard of equipment and food. Cheap is not a bargain on this mountain: the price difference usually comes out of porters’ wages, sleeping bags and safety.
The listings below are real GetYourGuide products with prices and ratings from its partner feed in October 2026. Start points and inclusions vary, so read each carefully — in particular whether transfers from the Gilis or Senggigi and the night before are included.
Our pick of tours & tickets in Mount Rinjani
from €129 Mount Rinjani Summit 2-Day Trekking Tour
The most-reviewed Rinjani trek on GetYourGuide: up from Sembalun to the crater-rim camp on day one, a pre-dawn push to the 3,726 m summit for sunrise on day two, then all the way down. Very demanding and very rewarding.
from €133 Mount Rinjani 2-Day Trek to Senaru Crater Rim
Through rainforest from Senaru to a camp on the northern rim at about 2,640 m, with sunset and sunrise over the lake, the Gilis and Bali’s Mount Agung. The best choice if you want the view without the summit ordeal.
from €124 Mount Rinjani 2-Day, 1-Night Summit Trek at Sunrise and Sunset
A Sembalun-route summit trek starting at about 1,150 m, camping on the Sembalun rim and climbing to the top before dawn. An alternative operator for the classic two-day summit.
from €182 Mount Rinjani Trekking 3D/2N to the Peak, Lake & Hot Springs
The full experience for strong hikers: summit, descent to Segara Anak, a soak in the hot springs and a second night by the lake or on the far rim before walking out.
from €44 Lombok Waterfalls Adventure: Tiu Kelep & Selong Hill Trek
No summit required: the Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep waterfalls at Senaru, a short climb of Selong hill for views over the Sembalun valley, and the Pusuk Sembalun pass. The most popular non-trekking day in north Lombok.
from €78 Mount Rinjani One-Day Trek
Senaru to the crater rim and back in a single very long day. No camping gear to carry, but a relentless climb and descent — only for the fit and well-acclimatised to heat.

Senggigi & the Harbours from €37 Benang Stokel & Benang Kelambu Waterfalls: Culture, Beach & Sunset
Central Lombok’s twin forest waterfalls — one a curtain of water through hanging greenery — combined with village stops and a beach for sunset. One of the best-reviewed day tours on the island.
Kuta Lombok & the South from €21 Tetebatu: Waterfalls, Spices, Rice Terraces & Monkey Forest
A walking day with a village guide on the southern slopes of Rinjani: rice terraces, spice and coffee gardens, a forest with black monkeys and a waterfall swim. Rated a perfect five by well over a hundred guests.
Booking tips
- Be honest about fitness. The summit day means starting around 2 am and climbing 1,100 metres of loose scree, then descending some 2,500 metres. If in doubt, choose the Senaru rim.
- Ask about group size, porters and rubbish. Good operators cap groups, pay porters fairly and carry all waste down. The mountain has a serious litter problem and your choice matters.
- Bring warm layers. It can drop close to freezing at the rim camps. You need a proper jacket, hat, gloves, head torch and boots or sturdy trail shoes; most packages supply a sleeping bag and mat.
- Check the season. The park normally closes the trails from about January to March and may close at short notice for weather, volcanic activity or after accidents. Operators will confirm.
- Insurance. Make sure your policy covers trekking to at least 3,800 metres.
- From the Gilis. Take a morning boat to Bangsal the day before and let the operator collect you there.
