Bali–Gili Gateways Tours & Tickets

The products that matter here are tickets: fast boats from Padang Bai, Serangan, Amed and Nusa Penida to the Gilis, with or without hotel transfers.

Fast-boat seats can be bought on the street in Bali for less than the online price, and in low season that is often fine. Booking through a platform such as GetYourGuide gets you a confirmed seat, a clear cancellation policy and someone to complain to — worth having in July, August and at New Year, when boats fill, and whenever the weather is doubtful. Read each listing for three things: which Bali harbour it leaves from, which Gili it stops at, and whether hotel pick-up is included or extra.

The listings below are real GetYourGuide products with prices and ratings from its partner feed in October 2026. Ratings for boat transfers are lower than for tours across the board — delays and rough seas are part of this crossing — so compare like with like.

Booking tips

  • Take the morning boat. The strait is calmest early; afternoon sailings are bumpier and more often delayed.
  • Open returns are useful. Many operators sell a return with a flexible date, which you confirm a day or two before travelling back.
  • Keep a buffer. Leave at least one full day — better two between December and February — between your return crossing and a long-haul flight.
  • Harbour fees are separate. Expect small cash fees at Padang Bai and on arrival in the Gilis that are not included in most tickets.
  • Seasickness. Take tablets half an hour before boarding and sit low and towards the back. The roof is fun in flat calm and miserable otherwise.
  • Luggage is stacked on deck and can get wet. Use a rain cover or bin bag and keep valuables with you.
